Some geckos actually enjoy being misted, while there are some that dont. I have some that will stand up, close their eyes, and just take it in. Its mostly my babies that do not like it...but what do babies like? Besides food, lol. I agree, too much moisture can cause respiratory problems, but this is over prolonged periods of time. Misting daily will not cause respiratory problems, especially since the heat in the tank causes it to dry out easily. Hence why there is a humid hide, and a dry hide, so that your gecko can move from one to the other when it needs to.
My humid hides have to be moisten almost every day, if not daily.
If you are going to mist your gecko, I do not recommend directly pointing the nossle at them, lol, I just spray mine over the cage so that it seems like mists of rain, and they wont freak out this way. And it only takes a couple sprays anyway.
