To answer your question - no it is not necessary to hibernate spotteds. A cool-down period is usually sufficient. There is no reason you couldn't hibernate one though, and at least somewhat of a cool-down period should be provided if you intend to breed. Your best bet is def to purchase a CB hatchling.
