I've been interested in monitors and large lizards since i first saw the komodos the national zoo when i was 4. But ive only recently gotten into herpetoculture (last september, i got a leopard gecko). My mom says i can't keep any lizard that can't be kept in a 4' by 2' cage. So after looking at small monitors i figured out that ackies might be good for me. After looking at the differences between reds and yellows i have decided to go with yellows. I have read tons of care sheets on these and have scrolled through the monitor forum for ackie related topics. Could anyone answer these questions for me.



Could i heat an ackie cage properly with a RHP? i would use retes stacks as basking/hide spots.

Will two hatchling ackies be lost and stressed in a 4' by 2' (LW) cage? if so what would be a good cage for them until they can move into it?

If i buy a pair or a trio of hatchlings will they breed at to young of an age if kept together?

what kind and how many prey items do you feed your ackies?

when/where am i most likely going to be able to buy a pair of ackies in june/july?
