This same type of blanket ordinance is being pressed all over the state. We're fighting it presently in LaCrosse County. The three reasons they have for the proactive ordinance is 1) PUBLIC HEALTH, 2) PUBLIC SAFETY, and 3) ANIMAL WELFARE. I have been meeting with everyone that will meet with me (some are too busy, too sick, or opt not to). Those that I am able to meet with are very understanding and see why this type of legislation is simply a way to address a nonproblem (personal ownership of reptiles) and avoid a true problem (like dog attacks and the 12 zoonotic diseases they can spread). I don't know how it's going to wash out, we'll know better tonight. I'd say get in touch with the Herp Societies. They are a lot of help, but it takes an immense amount of foot work to get anything accomplished. If anyone has any concrete information to put these unsubstantiated fears to rest, please help us out on this string. Thanks for your time.
