I'm certain that Burmese pythons can be the absolute most tame of snakes. I kept several and grew them to in excess of 20 feet, handled properly I never felt in any danger from them. However, their feeding-response and heightened sensitivity to heat in combination with their size make them not the best choice for a pet. Individuals, especially if crossed with the pimbura ssp., can be wicked.
Boas have much of the same tameness or adaptability and will not get nearly so large and massive, they are the best choice for a somewhat large, exotic pet snake.
