I released him last week near an area where I found him. I went deep into the woods behind my work place(I found him on the dock at my work place) so to remove him from any ATVers. I took the dirt out from the terrarium an plopped it under a soft log. In the dirt were still four earthworms. It took a couple of tries to show him the dirt but once I showed him the dirt he knew what was up. He took off pretty quick. into the dirt and under the log. Needless to say, I kind of miss the little guy but he's better where he supposed to be. Anyway, I'm sure I turned a few heads as I had a terrarium in one hand and a machete in the other. The branches will grow back. The salamander is under a log away from humans and he's probably grateful. The machete kind of sucks for what it was made for(I got it at Walmart for 7 bucks). I doubt I'll see him again as I had to clear quite a bit of branches(hence the machete) to get to a safe place for him. He's far enough away from people on their ATVs and SUVs. He grew over the winter. Doubled his size. I didn't even realize it until I took him out. Anyway, He'll be fine where he is.
