(Weight in pounds of boa) multiplied by the conversion (1 kg per 2.2 pounds). That give you boas weight in kg. Then multiply (boa weight in kg) by the dosage 50 mg per kg. That gives you mg of dosage. Then you have to figure out how much Tylan in ml to give, which varies by the potentcy. We'll do Tylan 200 which contains in 1 ml, 200 mg Tylan. Multiply Dosage in mg by potentcy 1 ml per 200mg, mg cancels and this gives you dosage in ml. Oh yeah 1ml is a cc.

Weight of boa = 5.0 lbs

5.0lbs x (1.0 kg/2.2 lbs) = 2.27 kg = weight of boa in kg

2.27 kg x (50mg / kg) = 113 mg = dosage in mg

113 mg x (1.0 ml/ 200mg) = .565 ml = around .5 cc injection

Pretty sure this is right. I didn't do the best job on the sig figs. If I made an error elsewhere I'd like to know. Also, if you haven't had a culture done by a real vet. I wouldn't jump to antibiotics if you know how to administer/use them- what kind of syringe to use, where to put the injection, and temp increase of the affected boa.
