People too look at me with mouths agape when they discover I am into reptiles, including snakes. Not necessarily because I am female, though that is a part of it, but the other part is because I am the exact opposite of a tattooed biker chick. It seems they would be more willing to accept snake owning from a woman with tattoos and leather than someone who could be the woman next door, a housewife, a mother, a church member, etc.



So, the bias is not only for gender, but for appearance as well.

I'm sure some of the guys out there have experienced the appearance bias..
