My guy was 9 years old when I got him.........

and is about 16 now. He was in pretty bad shape when I got him (a rescue) but once he lost all the retained shed, put on some weight and regained his health, he lightened up considerably. These days he's more of a milk chocolate color and the pattern is barely discernable. If your guy is already 6 years old and still that light, I'd say he's an exemplary specimen.
