Imagine how incredibly fortunate this young Marine was.
He was bitten by a Copperhead - a snake that although venomous does such a minimal amount of damage that subsequent deaths are almost unheard of.
What better training could you ask for to teach you to watch where you put your feet or hands when you are preparing to go to parts of the world that are home to Asian Cobras and Russell's Vipers?
I surely would not want the first venomous snake I ever saw to be a Russell's Viper that I just happened to notice next to my hand in the sand.
