Beasley's daughter recovers from poisonous snake bite

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The daughter of Republican U.S. Senate candidate David Beasley is recovering from a poisonous snake bite.

Mary Hunter Beasley, 13, was bitten on the top of the foot Sunday night by what her father thinks was a water moccasin.

"The fang marks were pretty wide apart, so it was a pretty good-sized snake," the former governor said.

Beasley said Mary Hunter, the oldest of his four children, was riding a four-wheeler with friends on the family's farm in Darlington County and got off near a swampy area. She was wearing flip-flops when she was bitten, he said.
