DE TELEGRAAF (Amsterdam, Netherlands) 18 May 04 Bewoners mogen naar huis ondanks wegblijven slang

Rotterdam: De slang is nog niet gevonden, maar de geëvacueerde bewoners aan de Katendrechtselaan in Rotterdam mochten dinsdag weer naar huis. Hulpverleningsdiensten in de Maasstad vertrouwen op de deskundigheid van een expert van reptielenzoo Serpo in Delft. Volgens de deskundige is het risico dat de slang een bewoner bijt, zeer gering.

In de woningen zijn vallen neergezet, meldde de politie dinsdag. Medewerkers van Serpo informeerden de bewoners hoe ze veilig kunnen omgaan met het dier, mochten ze hem tegenkomen.

Een 41-jarige bewoner van de laan zag zondagavond een slang door zijn woning kruipen. Het dier verdween vervolgens in een gat in de muur en liet zich niet meer zien. Volgens een lokale slangenexpert moest het om een Afrikaanse Garterslang gaan. Een beet van een dergelijke slang kan dodelijk zijn.
