Hey,
In short, Blood pythons don't get to be any where's near 10 feet, and so anyone telling you that is not very familiar with the species. Blood python females get to be about 5-6.5 feet and can weigh any where from 25-40lbs as an adult. The males don't get as large and or heavy, but are quite stout for their size too. The males can get to a large size of 4.5- 5 feet and can weigh as much as 25-30Lbs. They too, are a relatively stout snake relative to their size.
One thing I must mention - the Red Bloods are the largest of the Blood and short-tail group of snakes.
