Yeah, it's a scam... these kinds of things have been all over eBay for years..



They see you have a high dollar item for sale, "send message to seller", and want to send you a cheque for three or four times the value, and want you to do whatever... basically, the end result is you being (usually) a coupla grand + your initial product (or in this case, but not on eBay, animals) out-of-pocket.
