- Serious? I've been "bitten" by my little male and my big female before she died. I didn't even feel the little male - I actually laughed at him. And he's about a year and a half old (tho' small for his age). With the female, I was wearing latex dishwashing gloves, and all she did was tear the tip of the finger. Remember: They have tiny little teeth, they're just really sharp. I'm considerably more wary (pain-wise) of being nibbled on by my cat when she's playing than by being tagged by my almost 4' unknown.
- If you get bitten, you need to NOT jerk your had away. I know it's a hard reflex to overcome, but if you jerk your hand, it'll cause more damage. A snake bite is more startling than painful (until they start to get really big, but I've only had 4'> bites).
- I've never been hurt by any of mine wrapping around my arm. They're a PITA to get back off, and it might cut off a little curculation to your hand or something, but that's all I've ever gotten. I played with a friend's 8' RTB, and she actually caused my hand some pain.
- Yes, they'll take off and hide, unless you, like, take a hide from their cage and put it near them. They like to feel secure. I never take my eyes off any of my snakes when I let them go (despite the face that there's really nowhere for them to hide in my living room). But they can get into very bizaare places.
They seem big when you've only had a baby, but since you'll be growing with it, you'll be completely ready for it to be 4' long. ----- -Irish
