I was taught that if it had red ears it was an RES. thus yours is a RES, however, I see your concern. I have never, in 35 years seen a RES with that shell coloration. Usually they are a dark green/yellow combo with a definite pattern. So I wonder . . . A game ranger in my neck of the woods thinks that he's seen some crosses between painteds and RES. I guess it's time to delve into some more field research . . .
