I wouldn't hold it at all for a couple weeks after getting it home. Then let it eat. After it's eaten it's first meal, wait a few days. Then it's ok to handle it 1/2 hr every other day or so. All handling stresses snakes. If it's in it's shed cycle, don't handle it then either. Sometimes it depends on the snake. My smallest definitly doesn't like to be handled a lot and still balls up so I take her out just enough to keep her used to handling. The full grown ball never balls up and loves to explore so I take him out more often. [ Hide Replies ]
