I've heard all sorts of rationalizations provided as reasons for the free handling of hots... some of these include:



"Well, I haven't been bitten yet..."



"This species is relatively docile..."



"They normally dry bite anyway..."



"I just want to do it, so leave me alone..."



FOR THOSE WHO DO THIS SORT OF THING.... if you get bit and lose a finger, hand, arm... or suffer neurological damage or some other such permanent disability, do you HONESTLY believe that you will be able to look back and say that the free handling of hots is not such a bad idea and the experience is worth any pain and/or permanent disability that might result?



I can't help but think of my psychology professor informing us that a specific portion of the human brain (I can't recall which one, I'm actually a math major) known to play a role in forethought and consideration of the consequences of one's actions HAS BEEN SHOWN to NOT become fully developed in most persons until the mid-20's... I suppose you younger fellows have some reason for this sort of behavior (your brain isn't working properly), but you older folks who do this sort of thing (apparently) have a much larger personal problem to contend with.
