Try around the Pee Dee River, Uwharrie Nat. Forest, and Ablemarle. Also, a little south of that, along the S. C. border, are the pine barrens/sand hills, whatever, which are good. Then there's always the coastal plain area, which I want to get back to to try for the pine woods snake again.
