Good ant/bug protection for an outside cage

Was wondering what do you peeps with outdoor cages use, to keep ants and bug from crawling up the legs on the cage into the cham cage?, I will be spraying around it about 4 days to a week b4 i put him in it with a bug/ant killer., but was wondering what to use ither than the stuff they sell in the store? Thanks, Dave
