first thing you do is buy a can of prevent-a-mite and spray the cage and substrate with it and let that air out for a while...you should not have a mite problem if you get a good snake but this will help. for good humidity use side ventalation if you are making the cage...if you buy one with a screen top then you cover the top with plastic like a garbage bad and leave about an inch or so on each side or just the area of the basking light if you choose to use one. this will hold humidity well if you are misting every day. good luck
