Animal Control people had Senator Craig Romero bring up 8 amendments to change HB1319 to require permits for all non-indigenous constrictors. This would include California Kings and Mexican Milks. Please call the switchboard on Monday, June 14 at 225-342-6945 and tell them that you are against HB1319 because it eliminated the size requirement of 12 feet for snakes to be permitted. The legislators are sensitive to an avalanche of phone calls. The LDWF, the Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society, the Louisiana Reptile and Amphibian Task Force, the LA SPCA, the exotic DVMs, and the University Professors are all against these amendments. So how come the dog catchers trump the experts? Go figure. ~Bill Watts~ LGCHS Legislative Committee Chairman.... 504-710-8456 Link
