Like Chris's link.....This is from the "man" himself. Meaning, Jeff was the breeder that came up with the pastel name and trait. This way, you are getting it from the horse's mouth.
This is one of the problems in this hobby. Someone comes up with a named bloodline and others us it without completely understanding what the originator intended. So, buyer beware.
Simply put, Ronne's definition of a pastel is this. An overall reduction of black. It has nothing to do with coloration. The coloration is just a bonus. Ronne has not committed as of yet to what the pastel gene really does. He has stated that it "acts" like a co-dominant gene. But, he hasn't labeled it yet.
Watch out for others claiming to be selling pastels on the classifieds. Some are.....But, a lot are not IMHO.
Hope this helps.
John Jeff Ronne
