Posted by: polosue25 at Wed Jun 23 16:04:33 2004 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by polosue25 ] my hog lives in a small sterilite container with a snap-down lid (6"X5"X12" or so), which I drilled several small air holes into (more on the cool side than on the warm side). It's bedded with about 2" of aspen and has a water dish, humidity meter and 2 stick-on fishtank thermometers. I keep a heating pad under half of the box when the temps are below 70 and keep an eye on the temps at the 2 ends and where my hog spends her time--she seems to like it around 72 or so best, so when it's warm out I turn the pad off (this is a regular human heating pad). She's only 10" so she's quite comfortable in this small setup--when she gets bigger i plan on going to a bigger sterilite--as they aren't climbers they don't need tall cages, but more bottom space for them to dig around in is good, and the plastic containers are way lighter and easier to deal with than a glass aquarium, and most have pretty secure lids (though when they get bigger you should secure the lid with a bungee or some books just in case. | ||
