Those stick on fish temp check things are useless. They only measure the air temps.

Get a digi thermometer and put it right over the heating pad.
Human heating pads can get over 100 degress uncontrolled. A lamp dimmer should work fine.

Hognoses require 80-85 hot sides and 70-75 cool sides. (www.hognose.com)

My cage for my hognose is a small lee's repterium(sp?), aspen shavings, 2 small half logs (he does use them, he goes inside and pushes the aspen infront of the entrance to block out light) and a small water dish.
