The name "Redtail" is just a name that the american market put on the "Common" Boa in order to make it more desireable to the buyer. Many years ago when we did not have email or enet. or reptile mags. you had to buy these animals from importers through the local papers in hardware stores or your local market.

when these snake started to become available in pet stores and stores including Wal-Mart at one time the sellers had to come up with a catchy name to sell the animals so they coined them all as "RedTail" in order to atract potential buyers and make more money from the animals. Over the years the Once used discription became the new Overused Common name.
This is one more reason you have to be carefull when you are looking for future breeding stock "If you are wanting to keep Pure Localities" Be carefull who you are buying from becouse the Reptile world is a Big Money business for the ones that come up with these nice little Nicknames for Normal everyday animals.
