Red and Green Hogs

The red and green phases of the western hog are simply extremes in the variation of a highly variable snake. And often, people will call a snake with any hints of red a "red phase" snake.

It is analogous to Okeetee coloring in cornsnakes. It isn't a single gene trait. If you breed two really red snakes together you should get red offspring.
