Quarantining is definitely a good idea...

to help you avoid any potential problems. You wouldn't want your new aquisition to pass on anything to your male if by chance she isn't 100% healthy. I know some people will quarantine and observe for a couple of weeks and some people will do it for much longer. Either way, it's a good idea.



As for introducing them to each other, it should be just fine that the female is much larger than your male. We've introduced 4 foot males to 8 to 9 foot females with no problems. We've even had successful breedings from these guys. From everything I've read and been told by others, having a small male is ideal. Sometimes, larger males can be too rough on females...especially females that are smaller than they are. I think a male somewhere around 4 1/2 to 5 feet long is the ideal size for a breeder male.
