Ideally 88-90F on the substrate on the warm side.
If it's 'too hot for you', it will likely burn your gecko. Our bodies are 98.6F internally and around 91F on our skin, so hot for us is going to be over 100F, and 'too hot' is probably over 115F+. Bottom line, don't trust your skin to tell if the temp in the cage is good, as someone else suggested.
Use a thermometer(digital in/outdoor from Target=$10 or tempgun from tempgun.com=$25) to be sure your temps are good.
