and see if you can get something reasonable amended to it. Draft a proposel that states, anacondas, burms, retics, the larger monitors, hot snakes will be illegal however smaller snake species that dont commonly exceed 8ft will not. Then pull stats about dog bites, people injured by horses etc to back your facts that 8ft and smaller snakes pose no threat. Youll probally have to start a petition and get a ton of signatures. See if there is a local herp society or try and find some bird people in your area. Your best bet for saving the reptiles would be to piggy back the reptiles on an amendment with something less offensive like birds. Can you copy and paste so we all can take a look at it? If it says all none native US species that would include hamster, gerbils etc all the little mammal species that half the people who voted for the law proablly bought their kids for x-mas. Talk to the pet stores or local vets, they maybe be able to direct you to your nearest herp society or bird club. Once a law is on the books its alomst impossible to remove. The best you can do is try and talk some sense into the to amend it and make it somewhat reasonable and to do that I know it sucks but your going to have to give(i.e. burms retics, hots etc) to get. I for one wont invest in large snakes anymore because I firmly believe within 10yrs theyll be illegal most everywhere. As time goes on and PETA and HSUS build more wind behind their sails and these laws get more rediculous Im personally getting more leary about colombians and my own beloved dumerils.

Everyone needs to start pushing these "big name" breeders and huge supply companies to step up to the plate and get active in fighting these laws. I wont invest 7 or 8g's into a motley boa because I see the day when their wont be anyone I can legally sell them to. Same goes for lavender albino retics I think they are one of the most amazing snakes ever produced but I see the day when the number of people who can buy them getting slashed in half by laws alot sooner then the day boas will be outlawed. Were living on barrowed time, policing our selves isnt enough, we have to get active and force everyone else to get active as well because our time is about up!
