The Pastel trait in general is not a "genetic" trait, but a result in selective breeding over many years (Ronne coined the term and came up with the explanation)
It does appear to pass on when bred, but is sporadic (acts as a codominant trait, but you may end up with 1 to all of the litter showing the trait)
A pastel boa is a boa which has a reduction of black throughout its pattern and specifically through the sides and medallions. The color that most people associate with Pastels is in no way part of the Pastel trait, it is a "bonus" as you remove black more color usually will show through. ----- Randall L Turner Jr.
