Not to be grim... But I have known of uroplatus spp. "randomly and unexplainedly" dropping their tails and they almost always die soon after... Damn, wish we knew why... I hope for the best for you though, let us know how it goes... I can recc. assist feedings without too much handling (increased stress) to help obtain nutrients for the regen...
