The % thing can be misleading. The animal either IS or ISN'T het. There is no percentage about it. The reason people use the % thing is because it is impossible to tell which of the normal looking babies are hets and which are just normals. So the % means the odds of the normal looking babies being het.

From a het x normal breeding, all of the babies will look normal but about half of them will carry the gene. All of the babies are called 50% possible hets.

From a het x het breeding, 1/4 of the babies should show the trait. The other 3/4 will look normal but 2/3 of them will carry the gene. The normal looking babies are called 66% possible hets.

From a homo x normal breeding, all the babies will look normal but will carry the gene. All of the babies are 100% hets... that means there is no chance that any of them don't carry it.

From het x homo breeding, 1/2 will show the trait and the other half will be het. All of the normals are 100% het... no questions.

Got it?

I have an article on my site that goes into more detail than this. Check it out if you'd like to know more...
