I've found that Cresteds really do pass their colors on to their offspring, with the result of two good looking parents usually being even better looking offspring. That said, I guess you could say that they don't necessarily pass the same color on to the babies, but in the case of two brightly colored adults, you usually end up with even brighter colored offspring (as shown in my post above).
My theory is that this is due to the fact that drab colors are usually the result of dark pigments overlying the red, orange or yellow pigments. I think that brightly colored Cresteds have a reduced amount of those dark pigments and when you breed two of those Cresteds (with reduced dark pigments together), their offspring have the propensity to have even less of those dark pigments, which results in an even more brightly colored Crested. Of course, bright colors are probably also a result of more red, orange or yellow pigment, so I'm sure that plays a role too.
