Wierd feeding

I just took my ball out to feed, and he is being wierd. I took him out of his enclosure, moved him to his "Feeding" tank, and grabbed a FT mouse. I hung it in front of him, and he struck and coiled the fasted and hardest i have seen. After, he dropped the mouse, and began rubbing his face against it. This went on for like 10 minutes, then he tried to eat it from the butt first. I heard they do this with small prey sometimes, but this mouse way pretty big for him, i was kinda worried it was too big at first. He then spit it out, and started rubbing it again with his face. This same proccess happened about 3 times, and is starting again. Anyone ever see this before?
