If you are asking this question because you want to handle an emerald a lot, then I would suggest that you get something else. Although emeralds will tolerate some handling, they don't like it. Any form of restraint will most likely result in a defensive bite as being grabbed or held tightly is a kin to being preyed upon. Eagles are pretty much their only predator and you can imagine how an eagle would grab an emerald from it's perch. Also, the "heat" overload to their receptors from you body heat is confusing. They also seem to be confused by arm hair. LOL
