Yellows are just the right size for me. My largest female is just over 40 pounds, about 11 feet. She will get heavier and perhaps a foot or two longer as she ages, but now that she is mature, I feed her only 10 to 12 times a year.
If you get a Yellow Anaconda, look out for imported and poorly kept animals. These can be inexpensive, but can be traumatized to the point that they will never be a good pet. Anacondas can be calm and very enjoyable pets. I have kept many of the big Boas and Pythons. I have had, by far, the best experience with Yellow Anacondas. The snake you end up with will decide for you whether you like them or not.
The male in this pic, coming up to investigate the camera, is so tame that people have a hard time believing it. He has converted many people to snake fans. He's about 8 feet, 25+ pounds. He was an absolutely calm and unaggressive baby. The female (coiled) is just as tame, but pregnant right now, and very careful about herself. When she is moved to clean up, she hangs on, tight!
