well its wasnt to hard, acually it was really easy. I have no carpentry skills, im only 15, and all i used was a jig saw, screw driver, dremel tool, hammer, tape measure. Really i think any one could do it. I figured the cost out roughly to a total of around 65 and some change. I used 3/4 inch ply wood at around $30 a sheet if you make the cage a few inches smaller you can get two cages out of that. as for the comparrison two glass tank its really a matter of taste i think a cage like this looks good anywhere in the house where as a glass tank may not. heres the run down on the price its all rough ill get an acual price on the next cage.

3/4inch ply wood 30 dollars
nails free
2 bottles of wood filler 10 dollars
can of mahonangy stain 5 dollars
can of primer 5 dollars
plexiglass 10 dollars
6 hinges and 3 locks 5 dollars
1 sweet looing cage that you made from scratch PRICELESS
(sorry for the dumb humor) but thats about what i spent on it all really this cage only costs like 60-70 bucks but look like a 100-150 dollar cage.
