Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll go through this bag of moss since I have it, and then I'll give the cyprus mulch a shot. I've had a similar problem with ZooMed moss molding quickly, but it seemed to be only certain packages. Some would last forever, others would turn moldy in 2 days. I'm glad to know that, aside from the mold issue, this fine moss won't be a problem for my guy.
