I'm begining to think it's something I call a dominant, variable expressive trait. (I have no idea if that's even a valid genetic term! I'm certainly not a genetics expert,it's just a theory)I believe there is a possibility that these so-called "normals",are in fact,"lesser expressives",and, may actually carry, and, pass the trait.this is what led to the mis-identification of this trait originally,as a "simple recessive", animals from the original line, thought to be "normals"were bred,(whether to each other,or,to unrelated normals,I don't know.)and, some "Jungles" were produced(no idea what ratio,or,numbers)the automatic assumption: the adults must have been "hets",and, the mutation is recessive! in actuality these animals were lesser expressive gene carriers for a dominant mutation with a previously unseen degree of variability?...I certainly could be wrong, and,I know it doesn't help with your original question,as to how one knows for sure it's what it's supposed to be...I would ask questions, and, ask to see the adult(s)that produced them? there will,no doubt,be those that wish to "jump on the jungle bandwagon",and, simply trying to sell unproven aberrant boas???
