We're in central VA, and ours lay eggs in parts of the enclosure where the soil is the hardest clay. They seem to prefer harder soil. Also, they can conceal the nest really well when the ground is dry. My personal observation has been that they leave a little more evidence if the ground is moist. [ Hide Replies ]
