The rattling of the tails is just a sign of being scared. I have 4, the last 2 I got rattle their tails and it kinda freaked me out the first time but now I think it's pretty cool. Don't let it stop you from handling them though...the more you handle them the more accustomed to you they will be. (it hasnt taken more than 3 times for mine to get used to me, only one time for these last to before they werent fraked out)

What are you keeping them in right now? once they reach about a year of age or so they can go in a bigger tank and if you throw some climbing branches in there most likely they'll be allll over them! then they get interesting to watch!
