check out the cage forum...they have a bunch of pictures there. chris harper really knows his stuff also when it comes to building cages.

and yes they can be too big...and being too big causes undue stress on your snake not feeling too secure in it. good cage size is 3/4 long as the snake is long, 1/2 deep and 1/3 high as the snake is long. However, I had my snakes being yearlings and such in cages that are larger than this, but they also stay in the hides about 90% of the time. I put one in a smaller tank just for curiosity and it came out more. However as they are growing into these tanks they're coming out more...but yeah if yours are grown i wouldnt go more than that.

My setup that i'm in the process of building is as follows.

Two tanks stacked upon each other, with a cabinent on the bottom. 1/2" plywood is what i'm using. Inside lined with FRP Paneling (Fiberglass reinforced plastic)...it waterproofs it. Both cages measure 8' long, 3' deep, 2' tall. Then each cage is bisected down the middle, giving me a total of 4 cages measuring 4x3x2. Then I have sliding 4 1/4" lexan doors.

This guy built this cage..it kicks ass! He put a plywood shelf in the middle, covered it with tile grout, then sprayed a 50/50 mix of water and elmers to seal it, I LOVE this..i'm going to do it on mine.
