>>If he has regurged more than once, here is what i suggest:
this is his second time with regurg first one was August 5th
>>1) although he is small, wait at least 1 week before feeding him agian. One of the problems is that he most likely doesnt have much gut flora built back up in his system to digest the food properly. That is probably why it didnt smell 'as bad' as the last time he did so.
He is a little skinny, but also alittle over 25 inches, he was putting on alittle of weight in the weeks since the regurg thanks to the diet plan Marcel recommended. He is skinny in that picture becuase he only had a small meal while in shed (the one pink Sunday Aug 29th)
>>2) DONT HANDEL HIM AT ALL!! Raven regurged after i fed her the first time because a) she ate too much and b) i was so excited about getting her that i took her out the next morning for a photo shoot.
no handling i know, i only bother him to change out the water with fresh daily since the regurg. And i spend as little time in the room as possible (only to sleep).
>>3) Use a new sorce of food. another reason may be that the food source that you have may have gone bad or otherwise. >>
Food is from RodentPro so i don't think that is a problem it is a new batch i recieved 2 weeks ago.
>>4) check the temp of the food item. IF the food item is frozen in the least ...even a tiny bit..it will cause major probems. >>
this is where i am alittle worried, i am rather new to f/t mice and i know they have to be fully thawed, i soak in a cup of hot water for eight minutes changing the water once in the middle. They are flexible and don't feel cold to me.
>>5) be patient...i know that waiting for long periods of time to feed your baby is stressful on you , but it is much better for him in the long run. i havent had another problem with raven since >>
It has been a while since his last "normal meal" Aug 19th he ate 4 pinks, Aug 23rd 2 pinks ( he was in shed and ate 2 up right away and ignored the other two i offored), then 1 pink Aug 29th with no interest in a second. I am a little worried as he has lost some girth but otherwise seems healthy all normal poo untill the regurg, een a normal one the night before when he shed.
>>oh! also, make sure that your baby has very little stress. Make sure that he has dark enough hides, and that the lights arent on all the time, as that could make him stress and in turn regurge. >>
all are in effect, i have the blinds pulled so it isn't too bright even during the day. Normally he is a rather calm snake after the initial first two weeks when he constantly tried to get away.
>>and...one more, i promise... keep him hydrated during his fast. I suggest alittle pedialyte (unflavored) in his water to keep his strength up too.
Water, i know lots and fresh daily.Pedialyte like the stuff you give children? how much is alittle? his water bowel holds approx 8 ounces.
>>I hope this helps. He should be fine. If all else fails, though, dont hesitate to take him to a vet. There arent many things more sad than to watch a beloved snake fade away... >> >>good luck
Thanks you, i really appreciate the suggestions, and i sure hope he is fine, i'd hate to loose him esp after loosing 2 hatchlings already i few months ago. This time i got a yearling so it wasn't so delicate, and hopefully wouldn't have any problems.
