I have 4 baby corns when i first got them they hide too, then when i go to transfer them to another container to feed, i take that opportunity to hold them as it might be the last before a shed, so i spend time holding and talking, then placing them in the container to feed, at which point i also watch them eat and me being big hanging over them at that time, it's either food or being scared. I find that combo of things helps and 3 out of 4 don't hide anymore andf just cruise in the tank.
I have a BCI and she hisses unless i hold her for long periods of time at which she calms right down.
