I would have to agree about the instinct thing, but there is still some personality. It's cool to see them change as they get to know you. I have this tendancy to kiss my pets on the cheek which is pretty intimidating for a bp (think big head, little snake). Syd (had him for over a year) doesn't even flinch when I do it now, even when he doesn't see me coming (like yesterday when he had clouded blue eyes). Nancy, on the other hand, is new to my strange behavior and she gets absolutely petrified (think BALL python). I think she'll change just as Syd did.

So, maybe not particularly smart, but not plants either
