I've been putting off switching my guy from mice to rats for a little while now just because I haven't felt like dealing with it, but I finally tried last night.

He had been eating live mice, so I figured I'd do everything-in-one and try to switch him directly to F/T rats. So, I decide to feed him a mouse first to get him in feeding mode, and then feed him a rat. So, I thaw out the rat really good and put him in the box with the mouse to get the mouse scent on him. Then I drop the mouse in and put the rat back in some really warm water to heat him up to a good temperature. When he's done with the mouse, I start to drop the rat in. I dangle it down by the tail as I'm placing it on the ground near him. WHACK!! Took it right out of my hand so fast it startled me.

Very exciting.
