Wal-Mart and Target both carry a huge plastic storage tub that is cheap and durable. I bought a bunch for some of my aquatic reptililian pets. None of my burms want or need hide boxes, so I don't use them there. But you could flip it upside down with or without the snap-on lid and cut a "cave-type" entrance on one corner. These things are at least 60 or 80 gallons capacity, so they would be sufficient for up to a 15 or 16 foot burm. They are only 10 bucks at Target and are 12 bucks at Wal-Mart. Either price is a steal and I have picked them up at both places. If it is too high for your cage I don't see any reason why you can't trim it down to custom fit your space. Hope this works for you.

>>I've tried many different items as hideboxes and all have failed thus far. I liked the idea of using a garbage can lid but my snakes are too big to fit under it. I'm asking what you use as hide areas for larger (9 ft) burms. I'm looking for something with all the features of a good shelter; form fitting, non-absorbant, cheap, common, and functionable. Any ideas would be appreciated.
