You are right to use the hot water since it will be luke warm by the time it hits the cham. You should always test this on yourself first. Try not to spray the cham directly but make it so that the mist falls from directly above. I point the sprayer straight up at an angle. I use to use the hand sprayers but they would be a pain to use - make your hand hurt and they didnt create a nice mist. I got one of those manual pump sprayers - you pump it up and press a button or lock the button open to keep spraying. The pump works nice and it creates a pretty good mist. I have tested this theory by spraying the cham directly and then from above. He always tries to get out of the way when I spray him directly but will stay still and drink water around his mouth when I spray from above. Maybe its just how my cham is. My suggestion.
