An ordinary house light bulb will work for basking. But, rather than tell you what wattage you need, you should always test the basking temp by putting a thermometer right at the basking perch and measure the resulting temp. If it is too hot you can reduce the watts or move the light farther from the cage top. You could use the UV bulbs together...they are not that strong and if your ESU bulb is very old it won't emit much UV anyway. UVB bulbs tend to drop off in UV production after about 6 months. VitaLites are not overly strong either so you could safely use one along with the ReptiSun 5.0. [ Hide Replies ]
